Standard · Ethical AI in community climate action
DOT Climate Leadership Certification
A certification standard that starts the way honest standards should — by saying clearly what it refuses to recognise.
An early artifact — the v1.0 preamble. The clause-by-clause criteria sit in a working draft; what's published here is the framing. No decorative language. Every clause is meant to be falsifiable.
Preamble — what this is not
This certification does not recognise:
- AI that produces climate reports without changing community behaviour.
- AI that optimises corporate ESG scores.
- AI that substitutes for political will.
- AI that makes climate promises without a mechanism for verification.
- AI that extracts community data without returning community value.
A standard is most honest about its values in the things it declines to bless. The rest of the document earns its credibility from this opening refusal: every criterion that follows has to be falsifiable, and every claim of climate leadership has to survive contact with a community that can check it.
